Weeping Willow Pergola

edited April 2013 in Pergola, Trellis, & Arbor 0.00 Karma
I have been wanting a seating area made from weeping willow branches for years now, but I am concerned with the invasiveness of the root system. How far away from structures and embankments do I need to plant my pergola? I know that these trees also like water, but is it a must to plant them near a large water source?

I have the very tree you need in my yard. It is not planted near a large water source but is planted close to a drainage ditch that runs through our property. This ditch is only full when we have lots of rain. I do remember several years ago, we almost lost it because of a drought situation but it has come back now and is beautiful. I would plant your tree in a low lying area and let nature do the rest.
