Decking over a concrete porch

edited May 2013 in Patio, Deck, & Pavers 0.00 Karma
I have a concrete porch that has one concrete step for it, and I want to build a new porch over it. I think decking will be the most affordable option for me.

My questions:
- Are there any potential problems to be wary of when doing something like this?
- I've had ant problems within the concrete porch itself, but I've treated that with Delta Dust. Could insects become a problem underneath the decking?
- Is this simply a bad idea? :)

No this is a good idea as you already have a solid foundation to build upon. Just be sure to check with your city code before you proceed. As for the ants I don't see a problem as long as you are vigilant in your treatment protocall you should be good to go.
